Philosophy

A person's philosophy is very personal.  It evolves over time and is shaped by experience.  Our Midwifery Practice's philosophy can be summed up in three words.  They are "Birth Your Way".
We have a great respect for the birth process and know that most of the time it doesn't matter which room you are in or whether your baby births in water or air.  What is important is that you feel safe and supported in the decisions you make.  Our role is to provide you with suggestions to make your birth as comfortable as possible and to monitor you and the baby as you both make this important transition in your life.  This philosophy has been garnered over many years as a witness to the birth process.  Scattered through out this sight you will encounter topics that will be Marilyn’s personal opinion on that particular subject.  Other members of the team will add their voice over time. You will encounter conflicting advice while you are reading books or surfing the internet which leaves it to you to craft your own philosophy.  As a birthing team we will agree on the big picture and on safety issues but our personal journeys are what make us unique. The bottom line is that if you read all the books about pregnancy you would end up with a wide range of advice on most topics.  So read our philosophy and take the advice you like and leave the rest behind.  When you do this you are truly taking responsibility and this is an important step towards health and "owning" your birthing experience.  Remember, we are  just a phone call away and available 24/7/365.  We look forward to hearing from you if you have any questions or need clarification on any topic.
