Chelsea has had a busy year. She has been juggling working for two midwifery practices and a lively family. She is very close to finishing her PEP process and getting her CPM credentials. She is not doing many births with me since most of my clients are two far for her to travel. I am happy to consult with her on IV and phlebotomy issues and she is a great backup if I need an extra hand at a birth.
I met Chelsea when I was invited to be one of her midwives for her first home birth. She was the ideal client as she was healthy, friendly, and knowledgeable. Since that time some six or so years ago I have had the pleasure of having her as my friend, student and apprentice. She will soon be a sister midwife.
Chelsea is an amazing apprentice. She is also a phlebotomist and the clients enjoy her skill to find the most unwilling vein. I was there when she "caught" her first baby and she did a great job as you would never have known it was her first catch. She handled it with a loving presence and a professional demeanor.
I recently got to attend her most recent home birth and once again she impressed me with her calm exterior even when things don't go exactly as planned. In the end it was a great water birth and her family has now grown to six.
She lives in Smyrna with her husband and four children and a large black dog.
